About the Speaker
Vukan R. Vuchic is the UPS Foundation Professor of Transportation Engineering, City and Regional Planning, at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Professor Vuchic obtained his M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He has presented courses and lectures in urban transportation at the University of Pennsylvania (UP) and 75 other universities in many countries. His research is published in about 150 articles and reports. Some of his books are regarded as classic in the field, for example:
Professor Vuchic authored and recently updated his “Urban Public Transportation Trilogy":
Professor Vuchic worked on planning and design of rail transit systems in Belgrade, Edmonton, Hamburg, Naples, Perth, San Francisco and Washington. He has been consultant to many cities and transit agencies. He was the first recipient of the “Dr. Friedrich Lehner Medal” in Germany in 1982. In 1990 he obtained UPS Foundation Chair at UP. In 1994 he was elected Foreign Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in his native city of Belgrade, and in 2006 he became Foreign Member of the Russian Academy for Architecture and Construction Sciences in Moscow.
